How To Get Started When You Have Fear

Sometimes it’s so difficult to begin a new journey. The fear of the unknown is what everyone thinks about. How will I be able to handle something new? Will I look foolish? Will people judge me? I know when I began my fitness journey a few years ago, it was even difficult for me to walk into a gym. I felt like everyone was staring at me. Sure, that may be parenoid but that’s how I felt. I felt chubby and I didn’t know how to do any of the equipment. I felt like everyone around me knew way more than I knew. Now as a personal trainer, I have seen people from every walk of life. I’ve trained people who have been to the gym much longer than I have been and I’ve trained people who have never set foot into a gym. It’s something you have to decide for yourself. Is the fear of the unknown going to conquer you? Can you visualize the ‘new’ you and see an outcome that’s positive? Or will you still spin your wheels and do the same thing that you’ve always done (if you’re not sure what that is) or maybe you don’t know what to do. You’ve come to the right place.

The fear can also stem not just from your perception of how other people might judge you, but from insecurity about what your body can handle. Will I hurt myself? Will I do too much? Will I be able to get through the rest of my day if I spend all my energy on this workout?
